There are many myths about Portable Appliance Testing, the main one being that one must test every year. In an office environment, for example, there should be some form of inspection and/or testing every two years BUT this may be decreased to three or even four years dependent upon the previous test history. If the history shows that the incidence of failures and remedials is non-existent after two years, the frequency of retest may be reduced to three years and so on.

Accreditations

SAFEContractor
We are accredited with SAFEContractor, who are dedicated to promoting higher standards of competence and compliance through the provision of relevant industry specific and tailored health and safety assessments for all professions and sectors.
ECA
The Scheme is administered on behalf of the ECA by ECA Certification and involves regular technical assessments or 'Monitoring Assessments' to ensure that Registered Members carry out safe electrical work, installed to recognised industry standards and practice.
CHAS
(CONTRACTORS HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSESSMENT SCHEME).
This accreditation shows that we have been assessed for:
  • Health and safety policy statement;
  • Our organisation for health and safety;
  • Our specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to our buyers and to others. Having achieved compliance we are approved to work for all of CHAS' buyers.
